Holiday Services 2024
Advent
Advent is celebrated in our Sunday morning worship services over the four Sundays before Christmas Day.
Advent means "coming" and during the season of Advent, we anticipate with joy Jesus' coming into our world. We look backward to his first coming as a baby born of Mary, and we look forward to his second coming in glory as Savior and King.
Holiday Grief Service
Sunday, December 15
5:00 - 5:30 pm
The Holiday Grief Service is intended to minister to anyone who has experienced a loss that they are grieving, whether that is a person, a job, their health, some future possibility you were dreaming about...whatever!
It can be particularly hard to be grieving in Advent and Christmas time when everything is presented as merry and bright. We hope this service of scripture and song will be a place to acknowledge your grief.
The service is open and accessible to Christians of any background or tradition.
Christmas Eve Service
Tuesday, December 24
6:30 - 7:30 pm
The Christmas Eve Service is a celebration of Christ's birth--the culmination of the Advent season.
It is an intimate evening service with scripture and carols, and we welcome all followers of Jesus to celebrate communion with us. We close the service by singing carols by candlelight.
The service is open and accessible to Christians of any background or tradition.
End of Year Examen
Sunday, December 29
10:30 - 11:30 am
The "examen," which has been practiced by Christians for hundreds of years, is a way of inviting God into a review of your day and asking the Holy Spirit to bring to your attention to ways God is working in your life. After a review, you look forward and ask God for what you need for the following day.
We have adapted this practice to look back at the year that was 2024. Instead of a sermon on Sunday, December 31, we will listen for God's word through an examen practice. Each person will do it on their own in silence. Children will be led through a separate examen adapted for them.
Join us for a prayerful review of your year in the context of our Sunday morning worship. Having reviewed 2024, we can walk with God into 2025.
