Worship Resources for May 31, 2020

Welcome to worship in Eastertide! Eastertide is the season between Easter and Pentecost, a period of six weeks. In this time we will be looking at the book of Acts and the Psalms.

If you're joining us for the first time today, welcome! We are so glad you're worshiping with us, and we hope to be able to meet you face to face soon. In the meantime, if you want to know more about Church of the Savior, please visit our website (www.cotscrc.org) or email our church office (office@cotscrc.org). If you would like to be part of our mailing list, or be included in our congregational care, please let us know. May the Lord bless you and keep you during this time! You can see our staff here.

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Call to Worship

Our God—we, your people, stand ready and open to receive the flame of your Spirit.
Give us the ability to speak your truth so that others may hear.
Come, Spirit of Truth, fill our hearts.
May our hearts of stone be transformed to hearts of flesh.
Come, Spirit of Life, change our hearts.
May we who receive your light live together in Your love.
Come, Spirit of Love, soften our hearts.
Give your compassion to those who suffer in mind, spirit, and body.
Come, Spirit of Hope, heal our hearts.
Make us bold to bring light to the dark places,
warmth to the cold places, and love to the empty places.

Come, Spirit of Faith, strengthen our hearts.
Spirit of the Living God, fill our hearts, minds, and souls to overflowing.
Come, Spirit of God, move in our hearts.
O God, thank you for your never-ending love.

Call to Confession

“Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Come, then, let us confess our sins to the one who is faithful to forgive.

Come, then, let us adore the one who is mighty to save! Let’s pray:

Prayer of Confession

Almighty God, you poured your Spirit upon gathered disciples
creating bold tongues, open ears, and a new community of faith.

We confess that we hold back the force of your Spirit among us.
We do not listen for your word of grace, speak the good news of your love,
or live as a people made one in Christ
Hear us as we pray silently to you.

a time of silence

We pray to you, Lord.
Have mercy on us, O God.
Transform our timid lives by the power of your Spirit,

and fill us with a flaming desire to be your faithful people,
doing your will for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Closing Sentences

Go out into the world, and labor to bring forth new life.
Dream dreams, pursue visions and speak of God’s goodness in the words of those who would hear.

And may the God who breathed life into creation be your delight.
May Christ Jesus give hope to your dreaming,
and may the Holy Spirit, your advocate and supporter,
set your hearts ablaze with a passion for peace. Amen
